Ireland…make a break for it

Domestic tourism incentive to get Ireland exploring after lockdown

If one thing come’s out of Covid19 it is a new found appreciation for this stunning little island of ours. Check out social media any day and you are inundated with the most amazing photos from all over the country, amazing cliffs, beautiful beaches and gorgeous greenery. It’s challenging not to be able to head off to the sun but an Irish staycation is much more than a consolation prize.

Naturally the hospitality industry in this country has seen significant decrease in business due to the lack of international tourists however the government have put an incentive in place to help boost the Irish Tourism industry. The “staycation voucher” will offer an incentive to Ireland’s residents, promoting domestic travel into those areas usually frequented by tourists. A tax refund of up to €125 will be offered to consumers who spend around €600 on accommodation, food or non-alcoholic beverages.

The government is hoping that this rebate will encourage people to travel across the country rather than abroad and help out the struggling hospitality industry at home. It is expected that the voucher will remain valid from this autumn until April of next year.

Hopefully this voucher will help people to have the opportunity to get out and see more of the country this year and to help stimulate the local economy and create long lasting memories in the fantastic Irish hotels and restaurants.
